Complete Guide to 90 Days Reporting in Thailand

Are you aware that if you are on a Non-Immigrant Visa or Extension of Stay in Thailand for more than 3 months, you are supposed to report to nearest Immigration office every 03 months? This procedure is known as 90-Day Reporting.

But now, Thailand Immigration has taken a leap forward, easing the burden for foreigners by allowing 90 Days Online Reporting instead of requiring visits to the nearest Immigration office every three months. This streamlined process offers convenience and flexibility to expatriates living in Thailand.

If you are on a Non-Immigrant Visa or Extension of Stay in Thailand, this is the right post for you. In this comprehensive tutorial, I will guide you step-by-step on how to accurately fill out the TM47 Application online, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free process.

For your convenience, I have divided this post into three parts: physically visiting the nearest Immigration Office (Bangkok), sending the TM47 Application by post, or submitting the 90 Days Reporting Online. This segmentation aims to provide a comprehensive guide to cater to various preferences and situations.

Visiting the nearest Immigration Office (In Person)

If you reside in Bangkok, you must visit the Main Immigration Office located in Chaengwattana, Bangkok. It is often busy as the office handles various services, including Extensions of Stay, Permanent Residency, 90-day reports, and more.

Now, you don't have to wait any longer. Thailand Immigration has introduced an Online Queue System, allowing you to book the date and time of your arrival at the Immigration Office for your 90 Days Reporting in advance.

In case you are busy, you can authorize another person to submit your application and supporting documents to the nearest immigration office for notification.

Please click the Button below to schedule the date and time for your 90-day report. Select the '90 Days Report in Thailand (TM-47)' option. Ensure you book in advance due to the busy queue schedule.

Important Point to Remember: The notification must be made within 15 days before or after 7 days the period of 90 days expires

You will receive an email confirming your selected slot, indicating the date and time. Please ensure you have all necessary documentation ready. If possible, kindly print the queue receipt included in the email. Alternatively, you can display the email to the immigration official at the reception.

Why 90 Days report is mandatory and important in Thailand.

As mentioned in the first paragraph, I will explain the reasons for the mandatory 90 Days Report for every foreigner staying in Thailand for more than three months.

According to Section 37, Sub-section 5 of Thailand's immigration law, every foreigner residing in Thailand for more than 90 days, except Permanent Residents, is required to complete the 90 Days Report. This is non-negotiable; all foreigners who wish to live here must respect and abide by Thailand's immigration rules and regulations.

During a conversation with a friend specializing in Thailand's Immigration and Naturalization Law, I inquired about the necessity of the 90 Days Report. His explanation was enlightening. He stated that the 90 Days Report was primarily introduced to track and trace foreigners in case of emergencies, such as accidents, medical situations, or involvement in criminal activities. Many foreigners who come here are single retirees, and in times of medical emergencies, it is essential for authorities to easily notify concerned family members, whether they are in Thailand or their home country.

What happens in case a foreigner is late in submitting 90 days Report?

In the event of a late submission for the 90 Days Report, Immigration collects a fee of 2000 Baht (approximately 52 USD). If a foreigner is arrested without having completed the 90 Days Report, a fee of 5000 Baht (approximately 131 USD) is imposed.

While the 90 Days Report may seem like a nightmare for many, viewing it positively reveals its benefit. Thanks to technology, notifying your current address now only takes 5-8 minutes, ensuring a convenient and efficient process for all.
