Thailand Navy Ship sinks in rough weather with dozens sailors missing

Tragic news has emerged that the Thailand Navy Ship HTMS Sukhothai with designated code FS-442 sank in rough weather 20 nautical miles off the coast of Prachuap Khiri Khan province on 18 Dec 2022 at 2330 hrs approximately.

An extensive search and rescue operation is conducted to rescue missing sailors in rough weather. It is said that flooded water is to blame for entering exhausts and creating short-circuiting in the hull thus ceasing propulsion.

As per a Navy spokesperson, 106 Sailors are accounted for, 28 sailors are still missing and 03 are injured and are transferred to the nearby Hospital.

HTMS Sukhothai was manufactured in the United States back in 1983 and was equipped with Surface to Surface/Air Missiles and Torpedoes in its inventory and was a flagship of the Thailand Navy.

Thailand Navy has a very clean service record of maintaining its assets however sometimes we can't fight Mother Nature. Our prayers are with Thailand Navy in its rescue mission to find out Missing sailors.
