Plan your trip to Thailand with Comprehensive Travel Insurance Cover

Plan your Trip with comprehensive Travel Insurance

Thailand is one of the most marvellous countries in Asia to visit with a lot of scenic beauty like forests, islands, beaches and iconic urban areas. Moreover, travel, food and services are comparatively much cheaper than in other countries.

You will have an unforgettable travel experience while your stay in Thailand. However on the other hand there are always dangers like Road and Excursion Injuries or Sickness.

There are many cases where people got injured and landed in trouble because of having no Insurance coverage or in some cases, bills exceeded the Insurance limit.

Sometimes situations like missed flights or stolen/lost luggage can create undue headaches and travellers without Insurance get into a lot of problems thus ruining your planned trip.

To cater for these unpredictable case scenarios, I suggest properly equipping yourself with all necessary documents, gear and above all a comprehensive travel Insurance Plan.

I am based in Thailand since 2012, but I always carry important documents like my Passport, Insurance Documents, and Emergency Contact cards even if I am going by Car/Motor Bike to the nearest grocery store.

Now let us come to the main topic and consider a few important points:

Table of Contents(toc)

What are the Types of Insurance Covers

Delay and Cancellation Insurance of your Trip

Any undue situation like a medical emergency of a family member or security issues in the host country can derail your planned trip even though you have fully paid for your trip. It depends upon the contract binding or terms with the Insurance Company to reimburse a partial or full amount.

Medical/Accident Insurance

Always expect the unexpected once you are travelling on vacation. Check with your Insurance provider if they have Insurance Cover for travelling to another country and what are the terms and conditions. Make sure to enhance or upgrade your Insurance Cover before travelling. And if your Insurance Provider has local partners or panel hospitals in the host country you don't have to pay a dime in case of an emergency

Emergency Evacuation Insurance

There have been cases in Thailand where prolonged hospital treatment or lacking advanced medical procedures can create a situation of life and death. Your comprehensive cover should be able to cover your travel in case of Emergency Evacuation back to your home country.

Lost Baggage Insurance Cover

Airlines have become very systematic in dealing with lost baggage. However such incidents are reported during connecting flights. Make sure to Insure your gadgets like Laptops, Cameras or related equipment. You can get full or partial reimbursement depending upon the type of Insurance coverage.

Is International Insurance cover valid in Thailand?

Remember no Insurance Provider would give you 100% full coverage of all the points I have mentioned above in Types of Insurance Covers. However, there are a few that I have shortlisted and cost wise competitive under normal travel budgets. I am not the representative of any of these Insurance Providers nor get any benefit. However, my selection is based on the Types of Insurance Products and Prices offered by Insurance providers and reviews given by the public.

True Traveller

True Traveller is my number one recommendation for Travelling Geeks who love to travel while caring for their personal and health matters.

Some of the important facts about True Traveller are that this is UK based company and is registered with Financial Conduct Authority UK (Ref. No.756107)AXA is the major partner with True Traveller.

With Trustpilot there, the ranking is Excellent 4.7 with a count of more than 2900 reviews.

They offer a variety of options like Single and Multiple Trips. Along with that specific related activities like Trekking, Backpacker and Winter Sports.

As package prices variates always therefore my suggestion is to visit on True Traveller Website and choose the desired package. The booking and claim process is super easy.

World Nomads

World Nomads at the time of writing this article is having 3.9 rating on Trustpilot reviews.

Offers Basic level to adventure level Travel Insurance and quotation can be customized as per certain requirements.

It serves all major countries. I am not putting further Details as the name of the packages and prices keep on changing. During COVID many Insurance Providers introduced different types of Packages and Promotions. You can visit their website www.worldnomads.com for further details.

Points to see before choosing your policy. (Checklist)

  • Are any Multiple destinations covered? Just in case on the way back from Thailand you plan to stay in Dubai for a few days. Therefore you must make sure to figure out from your Insurance Provider about this point.

  • Medical Cover: Circumstances changes when you are travelling. Do you have all the necessary Medical Covers available just in case you land up in any kind of medical Emergency? Can your Provider be able to facilitate any enhanced coverage?

  • Baggage Coverage:Many Insurance Providers offer general packages based on a total number of items. However, you may enhance the Insurance of your items if they are costly like a camera or any related equipment.

  • Adventure Activities: Visiting Thailand comes with risks both on the Roads and Islands. Can your Insurance Provider cover all the activities like scuba diving, rafting or any related accidents?

  • Cancellations: Uncertain circumstances can create havoc on your plans like your flight and hotel bookings. Your Insurance Provider should be able to reimburse the maximum amount. Don't forget to carefully see the Terms and Conditions.

  • What is Excluded in your Insurance: This is the last and most important point, especially for travellers with pre-existing conditions. You need to thoroughly plan and discuss if your Insurance Provider is flexible to provide you with full medical coverage. If your policy is Automated means that Thailand Hospital sorts Bills directly from the Insurance Provider as this would save you from arranging funds from your country with costly conversion. Unfortunately most of the time they do not facilitate.

Conclusion

Most travellers ignore the option of Travel Insurance as they consider it is just overhead in the budget. But think for a moment what if something terribly goes wrong. You are in need of money to pay bills and there is no backup plan. Then you are at the mercy of a Government Hospital or any Aid foundation in Thailand.

Please don't ignore Travel Insurance Policy. Even a minimum policy would give you peace of mind that you are prepared for your trip.
